The Foundation works in three main areas:
Research.
Data on what Australians know about their civil rights, how to assert
them, how the legal profession responds to their needs and what is needed
to make our civil justice system assessable to all, is scarce. The CJF
aims to facilitate and fund such research.
Education.
Education of the public, legislators and journalists will assist debate
upon issues concerning civil rights and judicial administration. Forums
for judicial officers will allow the airing of views pertaining to contemporary
social issues. The CJF aims to provide such education and forums.
Grants to consumer protection groups.
The CJF aims to financially assist groups campaigning for consumer safety
particularly child safety, transport safety, consumer products, medical
practice and in the places of work to allow those organisations to become
effective consumer advocates, one grant at a time.
