CJF confers its Annual Foundation Award to an Australian who it recognises has made a major contribution to the issue of civil rights.

2002 Annual Foundation Award

The 2002 award was to Professor Allan Fels, for his unwavering perseverance and tenacity at the helm of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) on behalf of consumers since 1995. Professor Fels deserves the highest recognition for his outstanding achievements on behalf of all Australians in all areas under the Commission's jurisdiction during his 8 year term as ACCC Chairman. He is a supremely worthy recipient of this award and the directors of the Foundation are honoured to be in a position to recognise him on behalf of Australian consumers. 2001 Annual Foundation Award

The Inaugural Foundation Award was conferred in 2001 to the Hon Liz Cunningham MLA, a Queensland Independent Member of Parliament. This was in recognition of her principled stand as an MP in 1996 to prevent restrictions on access to the civil courts by injured workers in Queensland. Press release about this event
